It was a day of fun and frolic for Qatargas employees and their families as they celebrated the sports day.

Qatargas yesterday organised sports day for employees and families as part of corporate social responsibility. An organising committee, chaired by Ghanim al-Kuwari, Qatargas’ chief operating officer - Administration, oversaw the planning, preparation and execution of various sports activities. A volunteer committee, made up of employees from across Qatargas, conducted the day’s activities making sure that their colleagues enjoyed the opportunity to engage in sport and a day away from their routine work environment with their families and friends. “Our sustainable success, be it at an organisational level or at a national level, is very much dependent on a healthy population. We recognise the positive health attributes and motivation sport can bring to our daily routine and dedicating a day to promote sports and highlight the importance of sports in our lives has been great fun,” Khalid bin Khalifa al-Thani, Qatargas CEO, said. The Al Gharafa Sports Club was the principal venue for Qatargas employees residing in Doha. Special T-shirts with the Qatargas and Qatar National Sport Day logos, produced especially for the event were distributed to all participants. Many popular sports like football, beach volleyball, basketball, table tennis and cricket were among the activities that were well received by the employees and their families. Qatargas medical and security support services were on stand-by to ensure the safety and security of all participants. People also had the opportunity to have their blood sugar levels, blood pressure and body mass index checked at a dedicated health-check area set by the Qatargas medical department. Qatargas golf enthusiasts meanwhile, enjoyed their favourite sport at the Doha Golf Club. In addition to polishing their golfing skills at the Doha Golf Club Academy’s driving range, they also enjoyed playing on a purpose-made, 5-hole putting course and participated in a number of golfing lessons delivered by PGA professionals. For employees living in the Al Khor Community, a wide range of exciting activities were organised. In addition to a 5km-walkathon, several popular sports and games like football, volleyball, badminton, tennis, table tennis, cricket and athletics were organised. Over 3,500 Qatargas employees and families participated in the activities held at the various locations in Doha, Al Khor Community and the Sealine area.
