The Qatar Foundation for Combating Human Trafficking (QFCHT) has agreed with the Arab League unit for combating human trafficking to raise the level of mutual co-operation. QFCHT director general Maryam al-Maliki received the Arab League delegation, headed by judge Adel Majid, the league’s expert on human trafficking affairs, at QFCHT headquarters yesterday.The delegation congratulated QFCHT on the organisation of two Doha workshops recently on building national capacities to combat human trafficking.The meeting focused on factor that could impede the implementation of the Arab initiative for building national capacities to combat human trafficking and the related solutions to overcome these. They also agreed on the importance of mutual co-operation to support the implementation of the initiative. A work plan should be prepared to build national alliances to combat such practices and adopt practical procedures for implementation, they said.The objective of the initiative is to support countries in preventing and combating trafficking in persons by adopting sophisticated legal, security and social mechanism to improve human and institutional capacities to deal with this phenomenon and its adverse consequences.
