Prime Minister and Foreign Minister HE Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jabor al-Thani yesterday opened Qatar Motor Show 2013 at the Doha Exhibition Center yesterday.

The event, which concludes on February 2, is being co-hosted by Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA), q.media Events and GL Events.

Organisers expect this year’s visitor numbers to cross 120,000 who attended the show’s second edition last year.

Vehicles from across the globe, including family sedans, SUVs, luxury and sports cars and  motorcycles  are showcased at the event which has the motto “Stand Out from the Crowd”.

“The motor show is an important event being held in Qatar because it is bringing into the country new ideas about motoring and it also creates an opportunity for the showrooms here to see the latest models of cars. At the government level, we are always very keen to see more of such exhibitions being staged in Qatar,” the Prime Minister told reporters after touring the pavilions.

Making their debut at the show are some 26 new cars, including Audi, Volkswagen, Porsche, Ford, Ferrari, Toyota, Nissan, Infiniti, Kia, Maserati, McLaren, Mercedes, Mini and Mitsubishi.
