Envoy hosts Qatari alumni of US universities

In celebration of Barack Obama’s inauguration for a second term as the US president, US ambassador Susan Ziadeh hosted more than 150 Qatari alumni from US universities and exchange programmes at her residence on Monday. Guests watched live coverage of the inauguration in Washington. Ambassador Ziadeh welcomed guests and said:  “We are honoured to share this special tradition with our friends and colleagues from Qatar.  Today, we mark 57 peaceful transitions of power and a time for our leadership to acknowledge the voices and aspirations of the American people. Our citizens not only have rights, but responsibilities to contribute to our country and society at large.” Guests were later invited to share their own experiences in the US with the embassy’s social media team.
