Bertone to display 4 concept cars
Prominent international car design brand Bertone will be ‘the standard bearer’ of ‘Made in Italy’ at the Qatar Motor Show that will take place from January 29 at the Doha Exhibition Centre. Bertone is bringing four concept cars - Nuccio, with which Bertone celebrated its centenary in 2012; BMW Pickster (1998), provocative “crossover” halfway between a pick-up and a roadster (from which it takes its name); a personalised Aston Martin Jet 2 (2004) for chairman Lilli Bertone, with an original gold coat and two-tone leather trim by Foglizzo; and Jaguar B99 (2010), high-range touring car with hybrid engine. Also being presented is a scale model of the new high-speed train Frecciarossa 1000 that Bertone has signed for the Ansaldo Breda-Bombardier group, and of which Trenitalia has already bought 50 models.Within the architectural field, it will be possible to admire a selection of sketches and scale buildings at which Bertone is working in the field of luxury hotels and residential construction.Qatar and the UAE represent a new market for us, explained Marco Filippa, chief executive officer, CEO, on which we have been investing since some years now with good results. “We have started by offering our historic competences, ie “one off” cars produced in a unique exemplar for collectors and wealthy enthusiasts. We have then collected the numerous signs of interest in high-range residential construction and eco-friendly solutions for collective transportation, which is high-speed trains and undergrounds: two fields where we think our international experience can find interesting outlets.“Our presence at the Qatar Motor Show, where general director Sandro Colella, design director Mike Robinson and communication director Daniele Cornil will be present, is the tangible demonstration of our interest in this market, very sensitive towards the values of Italian style in all its aspects, from the “custom-built car” to the ergonomic and bright travel environment of a train as Frecciarossa 1000. “Here brand Bertone is perceived as a lifestyle. We are proud, especially in a particularly delicate period for our economy as the one we are witnessing, to feel standard bearers of ‘Made in Italy’,” said Filipaa.
