Best Buddies Qatar has organised a series of activities for people with intellectual disabilities and their friends. In two separate traditional day events held in the open air at Alpda park at Katara Cultural Village for ladies and men, the Shafallah students and their friends played old games, tried traditional food, performed traditional dance “arda” and listened to a concert of old Qatari songs apart from participating in a number of competitions. Qatari women also made henna designs during the all-female event. A reading event was also held at the Childhood Cultural Centre in Katara where Mohamed al-Anzi delivered a lecture for students with and without intellectual disabilities on the importance of reading as well as on personal thinking skills.
