Health hazard
Dear Sir,
I live on the Ibn Al Farra Street in the Matar Qadeem area. For the past one month, sewage from a neighbourhood building has been flooding the street, posing a severe health hazard to all residents in the area.
It’s a densely populated street and our children walk through the dirty water to catch the schoolbus every day.
The onset of winter has made the situation horrible with swarms of flies infesting the area.
Many residents have lodged complaints with the municipality (Baladiya) but no action has been taken so far. Baladiya officials did visit the street, only to acknowledge the problem. I would like to request the officials concerned to fix the problem.
KN, (Full name and e-mail address supplied).
It makes one speechless
Dear Sir,
It seems it is all “less” in the 21st century. Our phones have become wireless. And our feelings heartless. In case of our relationships, they have lost their genuineness and have become more or less meaningless.
Cooking is fireless now, of course, with microwave and induction methods. Maybe it is because most of our food is fatless.
Tyres in our vehicles, as you may have noticed, are already tubeless. Cars are keyless. And our attitude is so careless.
Youth go jobless these days. Dress is sleeveless. Children have gone mannerless. And education is valueless.
In fact I am speechless.
Everything is becoming “less” but still our hopes are endless.
