College of the North Atlantic – Qatar has partnered with the Supreme Council of Health to promote Oral Health Week.Students of CNA-Q’s Dental Assistant programme organised a series of table clinics highlighting a variety of topics related to dental health. The week, set aside to promote good oral health and hygiene practices for children and adults, was launched in the GCC in 2010.“The relationship between the Supreme Council of Health and the School of Health Sciences at CNA-Q has been ongoing for the College’s 10-year presence in Qatar,” stated Dr Abdulla Asad al-Emadi, head of the Oral Health Unit at the SCH. “We work in partnership with the Dental Assistant programme to enhance the profile of dental assistants in the country and to promote learning opportunities for Qatar’s young people,” he explained.This year’s theme, ‘Balance your diet to enjoy good oral health’ was highlighted at the clinics where students advised fellow students and staff on topics including the importance of oral health to overall health, the importance of a balanced diet and the benefits of brushing and flossing.This was the second time CNA-Q has partnered with the SCH to promote Oral Health Week.“It is our pleasure to partner yet again with the Supreme Council of Health in the promotion of Oral Health in Qatar,” said Irene O’Brien, dean, School of Health Sciences. The dental table clinics are one of many of CNA-Q’s School of Health Science’s continuous initiatives to promote all aspects of health and wellness in the community.
