The second annual International Artists Doha (IAD) exhibition drew to a close on Sunday afternoon, after featuring the works of ten artists over three days at Qatar Foundation. The artists, from eight different countries, showcased a large variety of paintings, demonstrating the wide range of skills and styles within the group.Founders of IAD, Winnifred Bastian and Marjolijn Stock expressed their happiness at the success of the event, stating that this year’s edition surpassed the first exhibition. They thanked everyone who helped to organise the event.The exhibition was held in the AaQool Atrium, and was opened by the Ambassador of the Netherlands, John Groffen on Thursday evening. A jury made up of Christina Zini from QPWN, Rachel Brooke from QMA, Julian Kent from Standard Chartered Bank, Simon Cory-Wright from TSE Consulting and Kirsty Rice, blogger of ‘4 Kids, 20 Suitcases and a Beagle’ chose the top three pieces in the exhibition. They put Pip Hoy’s ‘Cross Section’ in third place, Pedro Boaventura’s ‘Scraping Skies’ in second place and Jazqui Murray won first place for ‘Blaze in the Sand.’ The People’s Choice Award was won by Pedro Boaventura for ‘Age of Time’. Guests included the Portuguese ambassador, Ferrando Aranjo as well as Eiman al-Nesef and Mary Starr from Qatar Foundation, dean of Virginia Commonwealth University in Qatar (VCUQ), Allyson Vanstone and associate dean of academic affairs, John Guthmiller.
