For this Doha resident, observations become lasting memories

A book by long-time Doha resident Mohamed Idris Meah Chouwdhary was launched at a function held in Bangladesh’s Chittagong city recently.The book, Civilisation, Internationalism and the Rule of Law, is based on the writer’s own observations on happenings, in particular massacres and conflicts that shook several parts of the world in the last several decades.Chouwdhary is also offering his solutions on how such situations should be completely avoided to turn the world into a beautiful place where people of different cultures, ethnicity and backgrounds could co-exist in peace and better understanding of each other.Speaking at the meeting, Dr Jamal Nazrul Islam, a senior educationist, praised Chouwdhary for his efforts and urged him to continue such inspiring writings.At the function, Chowdhary explained the background of the sufferings of innocent people owing to the violation of international law. Dr Abdulla al-Faruque, senior professor at the University of Chittagong, who chaired the meeting, said that Chouwdhary’s book recalled the situations in many countries which he said were “governed by rules but not by the rule of law”.Professor Sureiya Islam, of IUB University of Chittagong also spoke.Professor Mujibur Rahman of Chittagong Government College and a close friend of Chouwdhary and Colonel (retired) Badrul Amin were among others present at the book launch. Chouwdhary, who came to Doha in the early 1970s, works with a finance company.Mohamed Mohiuddin Fahad, son of Chouwdhary welcomed the gathering and daughter Amira Begum anchored the function.
