US website puts up wrong picture, causes panic

An American news website in its report on the death of sitar maestro Pandit Ravi Shankar put up the picture of Indian spiritual guru Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, triggering panic among his followers. Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, who is the founder of Art of Living Foundation, has a huge following across the world. “Several offices of Art of Living Foundation received calls regarding the death of Sri Sri Ravi Shankar. We informed them it was false,” said Karthik Krishna, media co-ordinator at Art of Living. A user on micro blogging site Twitter commented: “Dude the picture you used is of Sri Sri Ravi Shankar. Not Pandit Ravi Shankar. Two completely diff (erent) people!” The sitar maestro and composer died on Tuesday in a US hospital just days after a heart valve replacement surgery. He was 92.
