Doha Tribeca film fest ends with cultural show

Artistes performing Kathakali, a traditional dance drama from the southern Indian state of Kerala, at the entertainment zone of Katara Cultural Village,  as part of a cultural show on the concluding day of the fourth Doha Tribeca Film Festival. The Kathakali  team was led by maestro Kalamandalam C Gopalakrishnan and included Priya Namboodiri and M Gopalakrishnan. The eight-day film festival, attended by participants from several countries, ended yesterday. In total 87 films, including documentaries, were screened at the festival. The focus of the last two days at the festival was on families and children. The final day’s schedule included films from Qatar, Kazakhstan, France, Tunisia, Algeria, China, Denmark, Lebanon,  Japan, Iran, the US and Italy. Among the Arabic films screened yesterday was the award-winning  The Repentant at Katara 12 Theatre B. Picture: Noushad Thekkayil
