The QU Wireless Innovations Centre (Quwic), located at the Qatar Science and Technology Park, will showcase a range of smart applications and services at Qitcom 2012 Exhibition and Conference which begins today.Quwic is also the official wireless innovations partner of the three-day event being held at the Qatar National Convention Centre. “As the first independent R&D institution in the region, Quwic is a great example of what can be done in Qatar to advance the national development strategy and realise the 2030 vision,” stated executive director Dr Adnan Abu-Dayya.Quwic’s demos will fall within with three important and major themes: Smart Living Services, Content Delivery and Mobile Applications, and Connected Cars, he explained.As an emerging regional leader in mobility innovations, few of Quwic’s leaders and experts will speak on different topics. Quwic board chairman Abdulla Zaid al-Talib is a keynote speaker on the third day to discuss strategies that need to be adopted to create knowledge-based economies in the region.Quwic’s business development head Omar Bondogji will be a panellist on The World of Apps session while another official, Dr Fethi Filali at Smarter Homes & Cities session. Qitcom is having a new concept to show case technologies at the exhibition floor in the TechZone theatre where Quwic will be presenting showcases on Air Quality Monitoring System (HAWA’AK), on Intelligent Transportation & Logistics Suite of services (Masarak™), and on its emerging Connected Cars initiative. Visitors to Quwic’s booth will be able to experience live demonstrations of some of the major initiatives and solutions developed by Quwic in the last three years since its inception.The solutions on display in Quwic’s stand will include Intelligent Transport & Logistics suite of services, futuristic Connected Cars applications, Air Quality Monitoring System, Child Safety onboard school buses, mHealth applications, Digital Content Management and Delivery Platform, and mobile applications focusing on delivering regionally relevant content.Quwic was founded by Qatar University in Collaboration with and at the QSTP to leverage the use of emerging wireless technologies in creating solutions and smart applications for use in a number of markets including transportation, utilities, healthcare, and environment.
