Qatargas has held its 12th annual gala dinner celebration, where employees were honoured for excellence at the ceremony in the Qatar National Convention Centre.The dinner was held under the theme, ‘Celebrating 15 years of Achievements,’ in recognition of the fact that Qatar first supplied liquefied natural gas (LNG) to Japan, in 1997.CEO of Qatargas, Khalid bin Khalifa al-Thani, welcomed thousands of employees and their spouses to the dinner, recognising the integral role they have played in the development of the company.“We continue our remarkable Qatargas story, under the guidance of HE Mohamed bin Saleh al-Sada, our chairman, along with the support of Qatar Petroleum and all our shareholders,” he said.“It is important to note that all of our remarkable records are the tangible result of what you have collectively achieved. It is a testament to your dedication, each and every day, and I thank each and every one of you for your commitment towards our success,” he added.“Together we now look forward to the year ahead as we take our position as the world’s premier LNG company - to place Qatargas at the very forefront of the LNG industry,” Khalid bin Khalifa al-Thani said.The CEO also spoke about the company’s achievements in 2011, including the launch of its latest mega-train, Train 7, the completion of eight years of operations without a lost time accident and delivery of LNG to new markets such as the Netherlands, Greece and Thailand. Qatargas also received its second consecutive Qatarisation Award for supporting national development, while four vessels in Qatargas’ fleet of chartered LNG carriers received the certification from the Green Award Foundation for vessel safety and environmental compliance. During the gala dinner, 15 employees received the ‘CEO Award for Excellence’ in recognition of their contribution to the company in 2011.
