Doha entrepreneurs K P Abdul Hameed and A K Usman have received the “Bharat Samman 2011 awards” instituted by New Delhi-based NRI Institute at a function in the Indian capital.The awards are given annually to 20 people “in honour of their contributions to social work, education and philanthropic activities”, according to a statement issued in Doha.Hameed received the award from former Indian Army chief General J J Singh and former Lt Governor of Puducherry Iqbal Singh gave away the award to Usman.A reception in honour of the award winners was held at the residence of British High Commissioner to Delhi James Bevan. Abdul Hameed and A K Usman are managing directors of Al Muftah Rent A Car Doha, the country’s first car rental company.
