The Qatar Businesswomen Award assessment phase has completed its activities with the supreme jury meeting that took place at the headquarters of the Qatari Business Women’s Association.The supreme jury is the final stage of the assessment phase providing a further level of governance on behalf of HH Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, Patron of the Award, Qatari Business Women Association and The Development Partnership. They met to approve the proposed recommendations of the assessment panel which was responsible for evaluating the performance of candidates in accordance with the five criteria that have been identified in advance, and were subjects of the training workshops that were provided for applicants to qualify for the award.The Association announced the names of the supreme jury members of the Qatar Businesswomen Award 2011, which include: Sheikha bint Jabor al-Thani, Vice President and Chief Academic Officer - Qatar University, Sheikha Hessah bint Khalifa bin Ahmed al-Thani, UN Former Special Rapporteur on Disability, Dr Khalifa al-Kuwari, CEO Aspetar, Abdullah Saleh al-Raisi, Deputy CEO- Commercialbank, Ahmad Mahdi al-Majed, Chairman of Al Majed Group, and Ibrahim al-Jaida, CEO of Arab Engineering Bureau and member of Qatari Businessmen Association.Aisha Alfardan, Vice Chairwoman of the Association, thanked members of the supreme jury for accepting the invitation, and praised the reputation they enjoy, saying: “We are honoured and satisfied to have this outstanding group of supreme jury members and we are confident that we have put the award in safe hands of a carefully selected group of experienced, competent and esteemed jury members”Alfardan added: “It’s really a great occasion, we are proud to be able to recognise this group of outstanding Qatari women; and we realise how challenging and important this award is to these women. I have no doubt that winners will be of the most exceptional women of Qatar, as being of such qualifications and experience, and working according to these criteria and high standards is not easy at all.”The Qatar Businesswomen Award was launched in December 2007 under the patronage of HH Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, and will identify and pay tribute to Qatari women who contribute to Qatar’s society and economy through their significant professional and entrepreneurial achievements. The award will focus on women who have demonstrated outstanding leadership and managerial qualities in their work.
