200 attend beach clean-up campaign in Al Wakrah

Qatar Steel and Al Qadisiya Model School volunteers at a beach clean-up drive in Al Wakrah

Qatar Steel organised a beach cleaning drive in Al Wakrah, in co-operation with Al Wakrah Municipality last weekend to support community environmental activities.About 150 employees from the company volunteered to participate in this event, which was held under the slogan “preserving the environment is one of our most important goals.”Al Qadisiya Model local primary school for boys joined Qatar Steel in this drive with around 50 volunteers. The Public Relations and Communication department supervised the event, which included some activities relating to the environment such as awareness raising presentations and distributing leaflets that educate the public about the dangers of throwing waste in the sea. Gifts were given to the school volunteers and other children for encouragement and in appreciation of their participation in the cleaning drive.Ahmed Abdul Aziz al-Ansari, Commercial Division Manager said: “This campaign is part of the country’s official environmental policy that seeks to protect the marine environment and the cleanliness of beaches in Qatar. ”Hamdan Khalifa al-Mansoori, manager of Al Wakrah Municipality, extended his thanks to the management of Qatar Steel, for organising the beach cleaning drive. Aisha Sultan al-Muftah, principal of the Qadisiya Model Primary School  thanked Qatar Steel and the Al Wakrah Municipality, for giving the opportunity to her school students to participate in the event.
