Ultra Electronics Qatar LLC was officially launched at a ceremony on Tuesday. British Ambassador John Hawkins opened the event.Ultra Electronics Qatar is a joint venture between Oryx Energy Projects and Services, and British company, Ultra Electronics Holdings, and has established a local office in West Bay.Ultra Electronics chief executive Rakesh Sharma and Oryx Energy Projects and Services managing director Abdulla Mannai were among those present at the launch event.The general manager of Ultra Electronics Qatar, John Anderson, said: “Ultra Electronics is committed to developing a long-term relationship with the State of Qatar and is looking forward to supporting the country as it grows in stature and capability on the international stage.”“The establishment of the local joint venture company is proof of this commitment,” he added.A spokesperson explained that Ultra Electronics is “an internationally successful defence, security, transport and energy company, specialising in electronics, electro-mechanical and software solutions.”“Capability areas include battlespace IT, sonar systems, specialist civil transport and energy systems, defence and security equipment, civil and military aircraft equipment,” he noted.The company will also offer specialist consultancy in various fields, such as infrastructure security risk and resilience, training management, organisational development and business continuity.
