Dajani: promises highest standards
Citigroup has appointed Izzat Dajani as the Chief Executive Officer for Citi Qatar, replacing Farhan Mahmood who has been transferred within Citi as Head of Public Sector Group covering the Middle East.In his new capacity, Dajani will look after Citi’s operations in Qatar, which include diverse corporate and investment banking businesses covering top tier clients in public and private sectors. He will also lead Citi’s push to deepen client coverage in the country.Dajani is a seasoned banker with particular strength in private equity, direct investments, advisory, private banking and placements developed throughout 20 years with top financial and investment houses in the Middle East, Australia and East Asia. He joins Citi from Goldman Sachs International where he had spent more than three years as head of Key and Priority Clients in the Gulf, based in Dubai. Prior to this, Dajani held a number of senior positions with the government of Ras Al Khaimah (RAK) including as Chief Executive of the Emirate’s Investment & Development Office, where he led the investment, corporate finance, advisory and placement activities for the RAK government. A graduate of the Executive Management Programme at Stanford University, Dajani also holds an MPA from Harvard University. He is a long-standing member of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain.“Citi’s footprint in Qatar is solid, and together with the Citi team on the ground, we will continue to provide the highest standards of banking service to our niche clients and to fulfil our role as an active member of the Qatari banking community,” said Izzat on his appointment.  Atiq Ur Rehman, Citi’s Chief Executive Officer for the Middle East, said: “Qatar is a key market for Citi, and we plan to further invest in the country. Dajani’s diverse experience and strong regional exposure positions him well for this important assignment.” Since establishing its fully licensed branch at the Qatar Financial Centre in 2007, Citi has evolved into an active member of the Qatari banking sector as well as a responsible corporate citizen with particular interest in supporting financial education and developing Qatar’s talent pool.   Citi’s regional capabilities include investment banking, capital markets, equity sales & distribution businesses, global transactions services, equity research, and global Islamic banking.
