The North Indians’ Association (NIA) recently observed ‘Hindi Diwas’ at the Alishaan Restaurant to commemorate the Hindi language.To generate a spirit of enthusiasm towards the language among Indians living in Qatar, the forum members held various participative and interactive activities.The highlight of the programme was ‘Kavya-Sangam’, an event anchored by cultural secretary Rajeev Saksena in which some 21 participants, mostly children enthusiastically recited Hindi poems.Later, a quiz in Hindi and the ‘Varg Paheli’ (Hindi crossword), ‘Kya-Kahne’ (Hindi slogan) and ‘Naam-Anjaan’ (Hindi quiz) were conducted by Jyoti Kalwani, Prem Kalwani, MK Pandey and Puneet.Menu Parashar, Archana Aggarwal and Anurag Chaturvedi were the judges for the occasion. Attractive prizes were given to the winners.The association also announced that its ‘Family Dhamaka’ will be held on October 27, at Hotel Inter-Continental. NIA president Harish Kanjani welcomed the gathering while general secretary Sudhir Gupta introduced the programme. Vice-president MK Singh and treasurer Naresh Lalwani received the guests.
