The Traffic Department is distributing baby car seats to the public as part of a campaign, says a report in the local Arabic daily Arrayah. They are being distributed free of cost in collaboration with the Hamad hospital and Qatargas. Senior Traffic Department official, Lieut Riad Ahmed, said the campaign had been launched to create awareness among parents and guardians on the need to drive safely while carrying babies in the vehicles. He said that many parents kept the babies on their laps while driving or leave them on the front seat without protection. He said the department would distribute 100 baby car seats as part of the campaign.
