HSBC Qatar has organised various community initiatives during the holy month of Ramadan, in their annual charity drive which include Iftar meals for orphans and labourers. To encourage sharing and giving this Ramadan, HSBC has provided collection boxes in all its branches in Qatar for those who would like to donate toys, clothes, books or stationery items for less fortunate children. HSBC will then deliver these items to Qatar Charity, who will distribute the donated items to the poor and less privileged in the community. The collection boxes are available since August 16 and will be available until August 29. HSBC is also organising a special Iftar for orphans in Qatar where volunteers will spend time interacting with the children, playing games, face painting and balloon sculpting, before serving an Iftar buffet. Each child will receive Ramadan gift bags containing toys and food treats. HSBC has also co-ordinated efforts to provide Iftar meals for labourers and underprivileged people in six countries across the Middle East. HSBC staff in Egypt, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates volunteered to help serve the meals. “Giving back to the community is an important part of the HSBC culture and this year, we have managed to reach higher number of less fortunate members of our society,” said Abdul Hakeem Mostafawi, chief executive officer of HSBC Qatar.
