By Peter TownsonThe Parkview Petcare Centre opened its doors yesterday, welcoming pet owners to get acquainted with the newest veterinary clinic and boarding kennels in Qatar.Managing director of the centre, Abdulla al-Naemi decided to open the facility due to his love for animals and his desire to offer new services to pet owners here. With boarding facilities limited in Qatar, the opening of new space should alleviate some of the pressure on other kennels and catteries, especially during the summer months.Al-Naemi told Gulf Times that the first phase of opening will include the clinic and the boarding areas, with plans to open the retail section and other parts of the centre after Ramadan.
He explained that his idea for the multi-million riyal centre came about as a result of his efforts to look after the numerous dogs he has rescued and currently keeps on his family farm at the ‘Second Chance Rescue’ shelter.“My mother saw that I was bringing back medicine from all over the world when I was travelling as I wanted to help my animals,” he said, “she told me to try and do something more organised about this and take it a step further.”This initial concept has evolved into Parkview, and al-Naemi is looking forward to helping develop animal welfare and making pet owners’ lives easier in Qatar.Chief veterinarian surgeon at the centre is Dr Maykel Mora, who is looking forward to bring what he described as a “new level of service” to customers in Qatar.A member of the UK’s Royal College of Veterinarian Surgeon’s, Mora has worked across the world having gained his doctorate from the University of Havana with Summa Cum Laude honours.Mora is excited about working at the centre, and is extremely pleased with the technology and equipment available to him and his team.“The clinic will be able to treat almost anything,” he said, explaining that the laboratory at the clinic will enable them to test animals for most diseases, while noting that tie-ups with other labs in the UK and US will allow them to test for specific issues if needed.“Even though I love life sciences and come from a family of many medical doctors my true vocation lies on the care for animals,” he said, adding “veterinary medicine enables me to use this scientific knowledge to treat animals under my care for many ailments.” “There is simply no greater reward than knowing you are contributing to the happiness of many families by providing wellness care for their pets,” he added. “We have the best international equipment and we have state-of-the-art technology here,” said Mora, adding “we will be working to the highest standards and hope to offer a new standard of care here in Qatar.”Both Mora and al-Naemi are keen to create a positive atmosphere at the centre, which will help to build a relationship between the team and the owners using the clinic and the other facilities. They also have high hopes for the future of Parkview, and have their hearts set on offering new opportunities for pet owners.“Come and visit us and get to know us,” urged al-Naemi, explaining that the clinic is currently offering free consultations and half priced vaccinations.
