The Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (Kahramaa) said yesterday it will intensify its “save it to last” campaign in a bid to highlight the necessity of conservation of water and electricity. The campaign will run throughout the year.To send the message of the campaign to every resident, the corporation would highlight the necessity of saving every drop of water and each unit of electricity from being unnecessarily wasted by consumers at their households, offices or at public places, Kahramaa officials said yesterday.Abdulla Anbar, head of public relations at Kahramaa, said the country is spending enormous sums of money for producing each gallon of potable water and single unit of electricity and hence the residents are duty-bound to avoid misusing both water and electricity.Seeking the support of the media in making the campaign successful and more effective, Anbar said the media needs to play a greater role to help the message reach the residents. The Kahramaa official said the campaigns focusing on the importance of saving water and electricity would become more meaningful once the real message reached the country’s residents through the newspapers, television, radio and also through advertisements being displayed on public vehicles and public institutions. The corporation is also planning to rope in malls for the campaign. The PR manager informed that Kahramaa is building a museum near Al Tumaima. “The museum is expected to be completed either towards the end of 2012 or in the early 2013.”PR co-ordinator (customer services department) Salem Rashid al-Marri and head of media Dalia Abdul Haleem el-Turkey also spoke.
