The Indian Cultural Centre (ICC) along with Indian Community Benevolent Forum (ICBF) and Indian Business and Professional Network (IBPN) held a farewell reception recently to bid adieu to Mehajabeen Mukthiar, the outgoing Air India station manager.Mukhtiar, who had a stint of three-and-half-year in Qatar as station manager, is being posted back to Mumbai to take up new responsibilities. The farewell function had Sanjiv Kohli, Indian charge d’ affaires, as the chief guest. He lauded the services of Mukhtiar to the Indian community in general and wished her well in her new assignment.Nilngshu Dey, the president of ICBF in his speech, remembered the support Mukhtiar had extended to ICBF. ICC president K M Varghese, IBPN president Azim Abbas, chairman of advisory council of ICC Hasan Chougule, first secretary at the Indian Embassy M R Qureshi, second secretary at the Indian embassy Anil Nautial, and many other community representatives and officials attended the function. In her speech, Mukhtiar said she will fondly remember the stay in Qatar, and she always felt at home during her tenure in the country.ICC general secretary Tarun Kumar Basu welcomed the gathering and ICBF vice president Habibun Nabi proposed a vote of thanks. The function also welcomed the new Air India manager Jagmit Singh into the Indian community fold.
