A group of 15 students and two professors from the French Institute of Petroleum School (IFP), considered an international benchmark for education in the fields of oil, gas, and petrochemicals, came to Qatar to discover and learn about the main oil and gas sites in the country. With the help of Qatar Petroleum, Qatargas, Qafco and Total, the students visited Dukhan’s QP production facilities, Mesaieed, and Ras Laffan Industrial City. With the assistance of Qatar Foundation, the students had the opportunity to learn about Qatar Science & Technology Park and the Total Research Centre-Qatar.“It was an extraordinary experience. The discovery of the production sites has gained the curiosity of a lot the IFP’s students, as well as the exchanges they had with all the responsible personnel on each site,” said Jehan-Eric Blumereau from IFP training, after the trip. The delegation also visited the Museum of Islamic Art and Texas A&M University at Qatar.IFP, one the top European post-graduate schools, has a truly international dimension, admitting close to 50% foreign students from more than 50 different countries, and has an industrial focus in energy at all levels. It allows engineers to specialise in further technical and operational knowledge of the energy industry. Therefore Qatar, thanks to its important role in the oil and gas global market and its huge world scale projects in this sector, is one of the most interesting countries to visit, particularly for those students who are all in the Petroleum Engineering and Project Development Master’s programmes, an official said.
