Mercy Roy (51), a former staff nurse in the cardiology department at the Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) died in New Zealand on Saturday, after a nearly six-month battle with cancer, community sources said.Mercy leaves behind her husband Roy Vellara and their two children, Hanse and Benna. The family is from Vennikulam in Kerala’s Pathanamthitta district. Roy was earlier employed as Warranty Officer with a Doha-based firm. Mercy worked in HMC between 1988 and 2000 and migrated to New Zealand the next year. She will be buried in Christchurch, New Zealand tomorrow, sources said.
