Tejinder Singh Bhatia: Pioneer of outsourcing

Prominent businessman, Tejinder Singh Bhatia, was recently recognised at a regional awards ceremony, where he was presented a special prize in recognition of his role as a pioneer in the local call centre market.Bhatia was declared the ‘Market Pioneer for Qatar’ at the Middle East Call Centre Conference awards, a prize he described as trumping any of the awards previously bestowed upon him and his company. The award was a vindication of the efforts of Bhatia and his organisation Spanco Golden Keys Solutions in promoting business process outsourcing, e-commerce and customised IT solutions  during their five years of operations in Qatar.Speaking to Gulf Times, Bhatia said: “It’s always great to be recognised, and this is another feather that has come our way – we are really pleased. This proves that the work we have done here over the last five years has changed the way that people see outsourcing and IT.”When Bhatia first came to Qatar from India very few, if any, organisations were choosing to use outsourcing, with large, financially wealthy companies choosing to provide captive services, handling all aspects of their business in-house.However, he explained that the benefits of outsourcing, which initially took time to demonstrate to clients in Qatar, have now led to around 70-80% of organisations using outsourcing to enhance their customers’ experience.Looking ahead, Bhatia claimed that another trend in the market will see a move towards managed service providers, stating that managing customised solutions for companies will be the main market for outsourcers and other providers in the future.“Our idea is to keep changing the market, to bring in the best and latest technology and solutions from across the world to fit in with Qatar,” he said, adding “Qatar has not been interacting openly with the world for very long and so there is a lot of development here.”Bhatia claimed that the future may lead to him branching into providing affordable education solutions, medical care, and delving into the travel and tourism and hospitality sectors. He explained that whilst continuing to provide business solutions to companies establishing themselves in Qatar, he will also look to provide solutions for the ever-increasing population which will arrive alongside members of the commercial sector.“We will be looking to provide things such as affordable, professional education – not in the conventional manner, but in a way that the market needs,” he said.Bhatia also highlighted the importance of providing support to SME’s (small and medium sized enterprises) attempting to establish themselves in the local market, identifying them as a major potential market in Qatar’s future.
