Volunteers cleaning up Fuwairit beach
Vodafone Qatar sponsored a cleanup event of Fuwairit beach last Friday. The event, organised by Edgeriders, was attended by more than 150 people, who for hours worked tirelessly collecting litter strewn on the beach which was threatening the turtle habitat. “It was great to see kite surfers, beach users, and environmental lovers getting together and giving something back to the local community by cleaning up Fuwairit beach; we’re so proud to have been part of this experience. We thank Edgeriders and the Qatar kite surfing community for inviting Vodafone to be part of this great initiative,” said Alistair Beak, Head of Consumer Sales. “This event is one of Vodafone’s many efforts to be socially responsible and we are committed to implementing more initiatives that protect and nurture the environment in our retail stores, products and services,” continued Alistair Beak.   To say ‘thank you’ to all that took part in the beach cleanup, Vodafone hosted a BBQ for the volunteers and gave them the chance to try out the latest Edgeriders’ north demo kites. The event was made even more special with legendary kite surfer Cesar Portas demonstrating some cool new kite surfing tricks.
