Focus Qatar an Indian expatriate forum, active in hosting educational and health programmes in the community is organising an educational awareness programme - “Edu Focus” for children of Indian schools from May 20 to 28.The programme, the organisers, said would give a lot of awareness on the recent changes and trends in career scenario and reiterate the importance of choosing non-traditional careers including research oriented courses.Head of Statistics at Government Arts and Science College Kozhikode Z A Ashraf and National Coordinator for Young Ebullient Student India (YES India) A P Shajahan will lead sessions in a host of sessions in the educational programme.The first session of the EDU-focus programme will be held at MES Indian School on May 20. It starts at 8 30 am.  There session consists of an aptitude test (CSAT) of two hours duration for students from 8th standards onwards. The test is intended to measure specific aptitudes tested in the Indian Civil Services Examinations. “From 2011 onwards, Union Public Service Commission of India has replaced Civil Services preliminary examination with Civil Services Aptitude Test (CSAT). Aptitude is the result of accumulated knowledge and experience to which one is exposed to. The development of skills necessary for a budding civil servant such as logical and numerical reasoning, decision making and problem solving skills have to be developed from childhood,” said Dr Ashraf at a briefing yesterday.The second session of the EDU-focus programme will be held on May 27 and 28. The session is held between 8 and 5 pm. The two-day interactive sessions will discuss topics such as changing career scenario, career planning, personality development, leadership skills, effective learning habits and mind gymnastics. There will be a separate session for parents 8.30 and 11 am.Besides Dr  Z A  Ashraf and A P Shanawas,  Focus Qatar officials  P Basil and Mohamed Shafi Kottayam were also present at the briefing yesterday.
