A Doha based expatriate forum has called upon the Air India management to expedite compensation to the kin of 158 passengers who perished in the air tragedy at Mangalore airport more than a year ago.Members of the Expatriates Association of Kasargodites in Qatar (QTEAK) made this demand at a meeting on Friday.“If there is a pilot error, then the family of the deceased should get adequate compensation, without any delay,” they said. “Though more than a year has lapsed, most of the victims’ families have not received any compensation,” said forum official Shamsudheen at the meeting. At the meeting, second secretary of the Indian embassy Anil Nautiyal said the only concern of the embassy in Qatar is the welfare of its people. Nautiyal was inaugurating the meeting. The official reaffirmed the support of the Indian Embassy to those who needed justice in labour or social sector.The forum’s chief executive officer MP Mohammed Shafi presided over the function. Musthafa Bangod presented the annual working report and Mansoor Mohammed presented the financial report. E T Abdul Kareem, Bangara Abdul Sathar, K S Abdulla, Abdul Razak spoke.General Secretary Yousuf Haider welcomed the audience and Adam Kunhi proposed a vote of thanks.
