Fashion show raises funds for hospital

The Pearl-Qatar which houses the only international fully-fledged Vera Wang boutique outside the US, recently hosted a Vera Wang charity fashion show to help raise money for the Rumaillah Hospital.The event was organised to raise funds specifically for the occupational therapy department of the hospital, with the money from the show going towards the purchase of new equipment and educational material for disabled children.“The exclusive ladies fashion show showcased the spring/summer collection of Vera Wang’s ready-to-wear collection, that resonate with the designer’s signature layering, intricate draping and exquisite attention to detail,” said a spokesperson.International celebrities including Sarah Jessica Parker, Ivanka Trump and Kate Hudson are among the names that have become synonymous with the New York-based bridal-wear couturier.United Development Company’s executive vice president for fashion and retail, Kirk Martin said: “The Pearl-Qatar has always supported charitable causes, so it is wonderful that Vera Wang selected to promote international fashion and endorse such a benevolent cause on our island.”“Over 120 ladies attended this sensational fashion show and demonstrated their support for this worthy charitable cause through ticket purchases,” the spokesperson said.Proceeds from the sale of Vera Wang designs and ticket sales were presented to representatives of the Rumaillah hospital after the show, she added.
