Students on an educational tour of Q-Post
Maharashtra Mandal, an Indian expatriate organisation, has conducted an educational tour of the Philatelic Bureau and Q-Post, an event specially designed and organised for students to raise interest in philately. The tour included a glimpse at the inner workings of Q-Post’s Six Sigma Postal System and a lecture from a philatelic instructor. Traditional philately is the study of the technical aspects of stamp production and stamp identification, including: the initial stamp design process, the paper used, the method of printing (engraving, typography, etc.), the gum, the method of separation (perforation, regulating), any overprints on the stamp, any security markings, under prints or perforated initials (“perfins”), and the study of philatelic fakes and forgeries.
