Latest BMW 6 convertible makes its debut in Qatar

The all new third generation BMW 6 Series convertible has made its debut in Qatar, over 35 years after the world’s most successful premium automotive manufacturer launched the first BMW 6 Series model.Now available at the Alfardan Automobiles’ showrooms in Doha, the all new BMW 6 Series convertible has a totally new interior and exterior design and comes with a wealth of new technology. The roof of the BMW 6 Series convertible comes with an elegant soft top that takes just 19 seconds to open, considerably shorter than the 24 seconds required to close it. Both operations can be activated while on the move at speeds of up to 40kph.The aesthetics of the interior is enhanced by the driver-oriented set up. The central section of the instrument panel, containing the iDrive system’s control display, the central air vents and the audio system and air conditioning controls, are all angled towards the driver for increased convenience. High-class functionality is underlined prominently in the updated and redesigned control display with the iDrive control system. Housing the navigation system, telephone and entertainment functions, the on-board monitor takes the form of a freestanding display for the first time in the convertible. The standard 7-inch screen can be upgraded to 10.2 inches by ordering the optional Navigation System Professional.

The convertible features numerous BMW ConnectedDrive driver assistance technologies based on three main pillars – safety, convenience and infotainment. These include a rear-view camera, surround view, the BMW Night Vision with pedestrian recognition, lane change and lane departure warnings, high beam assistance and the BMW Park Assistant. In addition, the all new convertible is the only car in its segment available with a full colour Head-Up Display that projects driving-related information onto the windscreen within the driver’s direct field of view.Commenting on the launch, Alfardan Automobiles general manager Mohamed Kandeel said: “Convertible models are important for BMW as they reiterate the athletic appeal and sportiness of the brand. “The all new BMW 6 Series will add a new chapter to a tradition of impressive BMW open-top sports cars that stretches back decades - and we have no doubt that it will be a popular addition to Alfardan Automobiles’ portfolio.”The new convertible is available in Qatar with two engine variants – the 650i and the 640i – which offer more power and more fuel efficiency than their predecessors.
