Marriott appoints new GM

The Doha Marriott Gulf Hotel has announced the appointment of Hossein Garan as its  general manager.
Garan has over 30 years experience in the hospitality industry, and joins from the Marriott Executive Apartments in Bahrain where he was launch general manager.
Having started his career in 1982 in New York City with the Grand Hyatt,  he joined the Marriott as pre-opening banquet manager at the New York Marriott Marquis in 1985.
Garan took his first Middle East assignment in September 2004, when he was appointed director of food and beverage at the JW Marriott Kuwait City and in September 2006 was promoted as director of operations.
"In February 2008 Hossein moved onto his first general manager role to open the Marriott Executive Apartments in Bahrain where he did an exemplary job positioning the brand in Bahrain and taking it to the number one market share position,” said a spokesperson.
Garan commented, "I am very excited and honoured to have been given the opportunity to be part of the experienced team at the Doha Marriott Hotel, home of the 2022 Fifa World Cup.”
