Bhavan’s celebrates anniversary

Pillai delivering the keynote address at the first anniversary celebrations of Bhavan’s Public School on Friday

The vice chancellor of Indira Gandhi National Open University (Ignou), Dr V N Rajasekharan Pillai, delivered the keynote address at the first anniversary celebrations of Bhavan’s Public School, at Al Wakra last week.
He said besides giving useful lessons to children, parents and teachers also have a responsibility to shape them into better citizens of future.
Indian Ambassador to Qatar Deepa Gopalan Wadhwa inaugurated the meeting.
School chairman C K Menon said it was a matter of immense satisfaction to the school’s governing council that the institution has made a name among the country’s residents in the first year of its inception itself. 
Ministry of Interior (MoI) officials assistant director of South Security Department Col Salim al-Kaabi, Col Thalib Rashid al-Azbah (Traffic Department), head of exhibitions Lt Abdul al-Mana and head of technical service section Lt Col Nabeel Mohamed al-Jame and Supreme Education Council officials Tharfa al-Kuwari and Fousiya Abdul Azeez al-Khater and Asia Ali Bin Naser al-Misnad were among others present.
Col al-Kaabi gave away a memento of the MoI to the school chairman. The MoI also donated books on traffic awareness to the school library.
At the meeting, the school magazine Mirror 2011 was launched.
A host of cultural events were presented to mark the occasion.
Pushpa Rajan proposed a vote of thanks. Earlier school governing council general secretary P N Baburajan welcomed the gathering.
