French automobile manufacturer Citroen’s latest model car,  DS3 was launched during a brief event held at the showroom of its Qatar distributors, Al Naael Company, on Salwa Road yesterday.
Speaking at the launch ceremony, company general manager Ahmed al-Saeed expressed the hope that the new car would meet the requirements of the local market in its segment.
Al-Saeed said the vehicle had brought together creativity, youthfulness and innovation besides an aesthetic exterior, which he said has always been a regular feature of the Citroen cars.
The DS3, he said, reflected the elegance and modernity of the French.  With its unique design, the vehicle brings a new experience to the world of hatchback cars, said the general manager.
Speaking earlier, counsellor of commerce and economy at French embassy Michel DHE said the mission would wholeheartedly support the initiatives by the local businessmen in promoting vehicles manufactured in France, among people of Qatar. Recalling the illustrious tradition of the Citroen vehicles, Michel said at least three former presidents including Francois Mitterand and Jacques Chiraq had all along been users of vehicles of Citroen.
According to the manufacturers, DS3 is an assertive car with radical good looks that customers could personalise with a broad range of styling components. Its dynamic on-road performance successfully blends efficiency and peace of mind, while the intelligence of its design makes the vehicle a modular car that adapts to all situations. The DS3 also features a unique onboard atmosphere where elegance and technology meet together.
It also has the advantage of a multitude of customised vehicles that each person can create in a fashion that he or she wants to have, said a company official.
The vehicle’s CO2 emissions are fully in line with Citroen’s environmental leadership, coming in with as low as 99 gram/kilometre. It is coming to the market with a choice of five carbon-efficient Euro V engines.
