Qtel has relaunched its popular Hala Fan Club for customers.
Last offered during the 2010 World Cup, the Hala Fan Club provides customers with a bumper pack of calls, video calls and text messages to use with other fan club members, so that they can discuss every kick and cheer every goal.
For a small activation fee of QR20, football fans can share the fun of the games and enjoy incredible value on communication with other Club members. The Hala Fan Club, open to all Hala customers, offers a bumper pack of 500 minutes of local calls, local video calls, and local SMS texts to other Hala Football Club members.
Members of the Club also get an added international calling bonus. Every time they call a range of popular destinations and talk for five minutes, they get the next five minutes of the same call totally free. The promotion covers participating nations in the AFC – including Australia, Bahrain, China, India, Iran, Iraq, Japan, Jordan, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, Syria, United Arab Emirates and Uzbekistan.
It also extends to a range of popular destinations including Bangladesh, Egypt, Nepal, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, Turkey, UK and the USA.
The Hala Fan Club works by creating the largest-ever community of football fans in Qatar, who can follow every minute of the competition and share great moments over Qtel’s robust and reliable network.
With the video calls, fans are able to record and send their favourite moments, so that everyone can take part in the celebrations. During the last World Cup, a huge group of customers joined the Fan Club. By the end of the competition, the service was one of Qtel’s most popular new offerings of the summer.
To make it easier, Qtel has made it possible for anyone to join the Hala Fan Club simply by sending a text message. By sending "FAN” by SMS to 121 or dialling *121# and following the on-screen instructions, customers will be automatically enrolled in the Fan Club.
Customers can check the points balance at any time by dialling *121# and following the onscreen instructions.
Qtel is also launching a special 30-day validity AFC SIM card for the visitors during the AFC.  The special pack comes with built-in Hala Fan Club features and QR3 worth of credit. Priced at QR35, the SIM will be available from the start of the AFC (7 January) at select Qtel Shops across the country, and will expire after 30 days of activation.
As a final bonus, Qtel has released a special offer of limited edition of Hala Scratch cards to commemorate the AFC, each with a football theme and image.
Qtel has a huge range of soccer surprises lined for 2011, both as an official sponsor of the AFC and as part of its role as the most passionate football fan in Qatar.
Held every four years, the Asian Cup will run from 7 to 29 January 2011, and will be held at stadiums across Doha, including Khalifa Stadium. All calls and minutes within the Hala Fan Club packs will be valid until the end of January.
