Bjorn tees off Dolphin Energy donation programme

The 2011 Commercialbank Qatar Masters Champion Thomas Björn launched Dolphin Energy’s Donation Programme at the Commercialbank Qatar Masters golf tournament yesterday. The initiative is a charitable venture that raises money for the Doha based Shafallah Centre for Children with Special Needs.Dolphin Energy will use the scores returned by the golfers over the four day tournament and contribute 50 Qatari Riyals for every birdie scored; 500 Qatari Riyals for every eagle scored and 5,000 Qatari Riyals for every albatross.Commenting on the Program, Mr Adel Ahmed albuainain, General Manager, Dolphin Energy, Qatar said: “We are delighted to be running our donation program once again and support a very worthy cause in the process. The work undertaken by the centre is phenomenal and as a key player in the energy industry, we take our responsibilities to support charitable initiatives seriously.” This is the 3rd year the donation program is taking place and more than QAR 160,000 has been raised for the Centre since the launch of the scheme. To mark this year’s effort, Dolphin Energy has joined forces with the Tour Players Foundation, the charitable foundation of the European Tour and its Members, who will also be making a donation per birdie, eagle and albatross.Tour Players Foundation Chairman, Mark Roe, said: “It’s fantastic to have Thomas Björn representing our Foundation at the launch of this excellent initiative, which we are delighted to partner Dolphin Energy in. It is an innovative way to support such a worthy local cause which will help the Shafallah Centre to continue its valuable work.”
