With Rose still nursing his sprained left big toe, the Bulls pounded the Cavaliers 114-75. Luol Deng led Chicago with 21 points and eight rebounds. Carlos Boozer had 19 points and 14 rebounds and Joakim Noah grabbed 10 rebounds even though he sat out the fourth quarter when the Bulls had the game in hand. “That’s the thing about our team: We have more than enough to win with,” said Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau. The Cavaliers, meanwhile, showed just how far they have to go. They scored just 31 in the second half. They were out-rebounded 54-38 in what coach Byron Scott called “probably the worst game we’ve played all season.” Scott admitted that when Rose was scratched shortly before the contest, the alarm bells sounded. “The biggest scare now is we go in the locker room and we tell the guys he’s not playing, that guys take a big sigh of relief like it’s going to be OK,” Scott said. “It’s not going to be OK.” Elsewhere, Orlando star Dwight Howard scored 21 points with 23 rebounds on Friday to lead the Magic to a 92-80 NBA victory over the struggling Los Angeles Lakers. Howard, who early in this lockout-shortened season made it clear he wanted to be traded, with the Lakers one of his possible destinations, delivered a solid performance to drop the Lakers to 1-6 on the road. “We’re a little raggedy right now,” Lakers coach Mike Brown said. “We’re a little tired.” Just as they did in a defeat in Miami on Thursday, the Lakers endured a miserable shooting night, missing 23 of their first 28 shots. They scored just 10 points in the first quarter and shot 38.2% overall.
