The AFC Special Mission Team (SMT) inspecting the Qatar Sports Club ground, one of the venues for Qatar Stars League clubs which have qualified for the Asia’s elite club competition. Lekhwiya, Al Gharafa and Al Rayyan will represent Qatar in the competition next season. The SMT concluded the tour of Qatar yesterday with the Qatar football authorities looking forward to more improvement for the game in the Gulf country. The AFC team had its final meeting with the Qatar Football Association (QFA) yesterday that formally concluded its visit to Qatar since September 30. The purpose of the visit was to help professional clubs qualify for the 2011-2012 edition of the AFC Champions League, Asia’s top-tier clubs competition.During the meeting, QFA secretary general, Saoud Abdulaziz al-Mohannadi said: “We work hard to achieve our goal which will help us develop our professional football further. “I am sure that we are on the right track based on AFC’s professional football criteria and we appreciate all the efforts and supports which have been given by AFC. We have a better plan to improve further and you may have seen big improvements here in Qatar,” he said.AFC Director of Competitions and Professional Football Project Tokuaki Suzuki, who led the SMT, thanked the QFA for the logistic arrangements and hospitality provided to the AFC delegation. He also shared his opinion of the state of football in Qatar: “I could see an excellent development progress in Qatar and we are quite impressed by the changes of the league and clubs. “In addition, I am happy that I could see a potential for Qatari football clubs and the league to be improved further,” he said.
