Harbhajan Singh became the third Indian bowler to take 400 Test wickets and Ishant Sharma registered his third five-wicket haul as India bowled out West Indies for 204 runs, 15 minutes before tea, on the second day of the third Test at Windsor Park in Dominica.Harbhajan, playing in his 96th Test, reached the milestone in the afternoon session of the second day of the third Test against West Indies when he bowled Carlton Baugh. The 31-year-old is the third Indian player to break the 400-wicket barrier, following Anil Kumble (619) and Kapil Dev (434), although he is still a long way off the all-time record of 800 held by Sri Lankan spin legend Muttiah Muralitharan. Harbhajan, a member of India’s World Cup-winning squad this year, has always been a combative player. In March 2001, he collected 32 wickets in three Tests against Australia, including the first Test hat-trick by an Indian, while none of his team-mates managed more than three. Harbhajan, whose Test best is 8-84, worked his way up to stardom after starting as a nervous, fidgeting 18-year-old, and having to endure doubts over his talent and abilities.West Indies were tottering at 200/8 after the end of 70 overs and Ishant took the last two wickets to end the hosts’ first innings. Harbhajan struck twice to dismiss West Indies skipper Darren Sammy, who scored 20 of 23 balls, and then Carlton Baugh (60) to pick up his 400th Test wicket. Carlton Baugh hit a quickfire 52-ball fifty to keep the scoreboard running. Baugh slammed six boundaries and one six in his half-century knock. Earlier, lanky Indian seamer Ishant Sharma got rid of Darren Bravo, who scored a fighting half-century, to give West Indies another jolt on Day 2. The West Indies were 128 for five at lunch.At the interval, Darren Bravo and Carlton Baugh was batting on 41 and 19.The weather, which restricted the two sides to just 31.1 overs on the opening day, delayed play until 20 minutes after the scheduled start.West Indies started steadily from their overnight total of 75 for three, but Chanderpaul, playing in his record 133rd Test, was caught behind for 23 off Munaf Patel in the first hour. Marlon Samuels suffered a blow to the helmet early on from Ishant Sharma, and never looked settled before Praveen Kumar bowled him for nine, dragging a delivery into his stumps.In the closing stages before the interval, Bravo essayed an imperious extra cover drive off Sharma, and Baugh swung off-spinner Harbhajan Singh over square leg for a six to bring the modest crowd alive.Kumar has taken two wickets for 22 runs from 16 overs, and Sharma has captured two for 40 from 15 overs.
