Germany’s THW Kiel secure maiden title at the IHF Super Globe Handball tournament

Ciudad Real led 14-10 at half time. Christer Marcus Ahlm with seven goals and Ro Walter Dominik Klein with six goals shone for the German side. Kiril Lazarov was the pick of the Ciudad Real scoring with six goals. THW Kiel for their effort took a purse of $400,000, while Ciudad Real pocketed $200,000.Lebanon’s Al-Sadd defeated El Zamalek from Egypt 28-23 to claim the bronze medal. Thus the Lebanese side avenged their third place loss to

Zamalek last year and was richer by $150,000. In the play-off for fifth place, Qatar’s Al Sadd lost 39-36 to Brazil’s Pinheiros. However, Qatar’s second team Al Rayyan managed to win their play-off against Australia’s Southern Stars 36-21 to finish seventh in the tournament. (Reuters)
