Qatar’s Jassim al-Emadi put off stiff challenges from Kevin Thornhill and Valentin Duca to win the 450cc class in the Red Bull Qahed El Tou3ous – the first ever quad bike event in the Middle East. The competition was organised in partnership with the Qatar Racing Club, Speedmarine and Qtel’s Virgin Mobile Service.Al-Emadi achieved a perfect run clocking just 37.96sec to win himself a CAN-AM 650cc quad bike worth QR35,000 – courtesy of Speed Marine. Thornhill followed in second place, with 39.03 seconds on the clock, and Duca in third, with 41.45 seconds. Both were awarded gift vouchers to the tune of QR4,000 by Qtel’s Virgin Mobile Service who also supplied a second CAN-AM 650cc with Speed Marine to Khalid Saad El Saeed, who won the open class event. The competition was grouped into two major categories: the 450cc and the open class. A series of knockout rounds saw the 100 contenders whittled down to just six in the 450cc event. The competition incorporated the skill and dare-devilry of dune bashing with the speed and aerial acrobatics of motocross. Contestants at the Qatar event were required to negotiate a challenging track of sharp turns, obstacles and man made ramps around the dunes of Sea Line resort.  Time penalties were given for missing obstacles.
