A ConocoPhillips delegation led by chairman and chief executive officer, Ryan Lance took part in the inaugural session of the 12th Doha Forum on Democracy, Development and Free Trade. The delegation also included Matt Fox, executive vice president (exploration and production) and Gary Sykes, president, ConocoPhillips Qatar. Lance said, “As a long-time partner of Qatar Petroleum, it is indeed a pleasure to participate in this distinguished round of the Doha Forum providing an overview of issues regarding democracy, development and free trade in the Middle-East, the Arab countries and the world. We are particularly interested in following the various presentations on the recent political, economic and industry related developments in the Middle East; a region that has most recently witnessed some historical developments.”Commenting on the recent repositioning of ConocoPhillips, Lance said, “Consistent with the repositioning plan, on April 30, the company completed the spin-off of its downstream businesses to its stockholders. In conjunction with this spin-off, ConocoPhillips stockholders received one share of Phillips 66 common stock for every two shares held of ConocoPhillips common stock. Following the spin-off of Phillips 66, ConocoPhillips has emerged as the world’s largest independent exploration and production (E&P) company, based on proved reserves and production of liquids and natural gas.”
