A number of international, regional and local real estate developers, architects, urban planners, asset managers, financing professionals, designers, professional service providers, government and regulatory officials will gather in Doha on May 23 for the three-day Cityscape Qatar 2012, a real estate exhibition making its debut in the country.Organisers said yesterday the event would help the participants showcase the immense range and scope of property development and infrastructure projects to investors and key industry professionals from across the world.Qatar’s determination to diversify from an overwhelmingly hydrocarbon-based economy in line with the Qatar National Vision 2030 and the successful bid to host the FIFA World Cup 2022 has attracted a host of industrial, business and real estate developers to the country in the last few years, they said.“Plans are well underway for major infrastructural developments that will deliver vast investment and growth in transportation, residential and commercial real estate, and build new sporting and leisure facilities. A lot of investors are showing interest in the real estate developments in the country,” said managing director of the Cityscape Group Rohan Marwaha. The organiser said about 110 establishments will have their pavilions set up at the event and about 6,000 officials from different firms and businesses as well as visitors are expected to attend, he said.Alongside the exhibition, delegates and visitors will also attend the inaugural Qatar Real Estate Summit, the first and only learning and networking event for Qatar’s real estate market. Another highlight of the three-day event will be the investor round tables. These will offer an exclusive opportunity for senior decision makers in the real estate sector to meet investors and discuss key issues affecting investment and development in emerging markets.Barwa Deputy CEO Ahmed Abdullah Ali al-Abdullah; Al Khalij Commercial Bank group CEO Robin McCall and deputy CEO of Ezdan Real Estate Abdulrahman al-Najjar also spoke.
