Qatargas delivered its first LNG cargo of approximately 145,000 cu m to PetroChina’s first receiving terminal at Rudong, Jiangsu Province, yesterday on the Q-Flex carrier ‘Al-Rekayyat.’ Qatargas chief executive officer Khalid bin Khalifa al-Thani said: “This achievement underpins Qatargas’ capability to supply LNG to customers around the globe safely and reliably. Under the guidance of Minister of Energy and Industry as well as Qatargas chairman HE Dr Mohamed Saleh al-Sada, Qatari LNG has a key role to play in helping governments around the world improve the diversity of their energy supplies.” The LNG delivered was executed under the agreement between Qatargas and PetroChina as the commissioning cargo for the Jiangsu LNG terminal. It marks the culmination of collaborative efforts between the two companies, including the first ever ‘Full Mission Bridge Simulation’ for a Q-Flex vessel held inside China at the Dalian Maritime University in March. Qatargas, the world’s largest LNG producing company with a production capacity of 42mn tonnes per annum, has previously executed long-term contracts to supply a total of 5mn tonnes per annum of LNG to China.
