Qatargas has added Greece to its customer portfolio, opening up another new market for Qatari LNG. The cargo was sold to Vitol, the Netherlands-based firm dealing in oil and gas products for Depa, Greece’s public gas supply corporation. The Golar Maria (pictured), a conventional gas vessel, delivered 141,014 cu m of Qatari LNG to the Revithoussa LNG Terminal, situated on the Revithoussa Island in the Gulf of Megara, west of Athens. Qatargas CEO Khalid bin Khalifa al-Thani said, “Greece is the latest addition to our growing customer portfolio in Europe. We are happy that our LNG will keep the lights on in Athens. Under the guidance of Minister of Energy and Industry, HE Dr Mohamed bin Saleh al-Sada, also Qatargas chairman, the company is focused on meeting its commitments to all customers across the globe.” Europe is currently one of Qatargas’ largest customer markets.
