Opposition activists go on rampage

Fire fighters hose down a bus burnt by activists of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) in Dhaka yesterday. At least five buses and a van have been set ablaze in Dhaka on the eve of the 48-hour countrywide strike called by the main opposition BNP and its ally Jamaat-e-Islami, a radical Islamist group. The strike is part of their bid to oust Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina from power and force an early election.
