The Economic and Commercial Office of Spain in Doha, together with ICEX Spain Trade & Investment, is bringing "Eat Spain, Drink Spain” back to Qatar for a second year, running from September 20 to October 4.
The campaign returns after a successful first edition, which helped introduce Spanish food to more people across one of the region's most diverse food markets, where nearly 80% of residents come from outside Qatar.
"Spanish gastronomy is one of the finest expressions of our culture and a key part of Spain's international appeal,” said Spain’s ambassador to Qatar Dr Alvaro Renedo Zalba.
"Our cuisine combines centuries of tradition with innovation, reflecting the extraordinary diversity of our regions, products and culinary heritage,” he said. "Through ‘Eat Spain, Drink Spain’, we are delighted to share this rich gastronomic tradition with Qatar and strengthen the ties between our two countries through food.”
Visitors can look forward to trying classics such as paella, tortilla espanola, gambas al ajillo, and croquetas, along with favourites like Manchego cheese and Padron peppers.
Throughout the campaign, tastings, cooking demonstrations, and events will connect the local community with Spanish chefs, giving residents and food professionals a chance to try and learn about Spanish cuisine, from traditional recipes to modern twists and fusion menus.
This year's edition brings together a diverse group of partners across Doha, from hotels and restaurants to retailers and speciality brands, making it easier than ever to discover a taste of Spain.
Diners can explore Spanish flavours at venues including Curiosa, Stoke & Stoker, The Cellar, Coya, Amaru, Muru, Secret Garden, La Pergola, and IKA, while retailers such as The Meat Market, Monoprix, Carrefour, and LuLu Hypermarket bring Spanish products to shelves across the city, with special promotions throughout the campaign.
Also joining the campaign are Spanish brands Delaviuda and El Almendro, delivery app Snoonu, and The Cooking Academy, which will host a cooking contest.
A full calendar of activations, dates and times is available for residents looking to join in the celebration.
"Eat Spain, Drink Spain” is organised by Foods from Spain and Alimentos de Espana, through the Economic and Commercial Office of the embassy of Spain in Doha, as part of the wider Spain Food Nation campaign.
This year, the campaign is taking place in 18 countries around the world.
